With great care and attention to the finest details, Leilani Jensen makes each piece of her jewelry by hand in her Seattle, Washington studio. Each piece of glass that she makes starts out as clear silica powder, hand-mixed for color, and fired in a kiln at temperatures up to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit.
After the glass slowly cools, Leilani cuts and shapes it by hand with lapidary equipment, fires it for a second time to polish it, and lets it cool again. It is then ready to be set in sterling silver. Because the glass takes on a slightly different size and shape in the kiln-firing process, a sterling silver setting is custom-made for each piece. Leilani pays great attention to the detail during the silversmithing process, adding to the lasting durability and quality of her work.
This collection represents her love for color expressed through the intrinsic beauty of handmade art glass, and her design aesthetic of rich simplicity. |
